From one movie to another
Another bad sleeping pattern, another day at Uni missed. This can't be a recurring thing.

I finally woke up around 4:30pm. My plans for the day were to go to my 1pm lecture, play some pool with Tom, go the library for a bit and then do some work in my room but all of that went out of the window. Instead, I was looking forward to going to the cinema to watch Casino Royale at 8pm.

Cat invited me out to the pub with her, Kerry and the others but I declined. I really wanted to go and see the film instead and although I'd be going alone, it didn't bother me. I knew that Tom was going too, but with the people from the fencing society. They were all planning on wearing tuxedos and looking the part so it wasn't hard to spot him as I walked into the cinema. He was standing outside with lots of other 'Bonds'. I didn't quite know how to go and talk to him though, since I didn't know anyone else in his group so I chose not to. Silly, I know.

Once seated, the screen filled up quite a fair bit. I knew Tom was sitting behind me somewhere but again, since he was with a few people I didn't know, I just felt weird about going to say hi. In the end, he actually text me asking if I was in the cinema yet. I said yes and that I was sitting in front of him somewhere. We didn't actually say hi to each other though until after the film.

The film itself wasn't as good as I thought it'd be. I was expecting it to be a little grittier, even though that's how it's been advertised. It's definitely a different Bond than usual, but a lot of the story felt a little disjointed. There were three places where the film could have actually ended, but it just kept going when there wasn't really any need to. Still, I enjoyed it, except for one large annoyance.

In front of me were three people. One woman and two guys. They were all about 40-50 years old. Throughout the ENTIRE FILM, they talked. Not only that, but the woman kept laughing REALLY loudly at the most inappropriate moments. Not at the film, but at what one of the guys were saying to her. It's so fucking annoying trying to watch a film when you have someone spoiling it for everyone. And it certainly was more than me who was getting annoyed. You could see people looking down the aisle at her with disapproval but of course no one says anything in those situations because they're either afraid to or maybe they're just too far away. However, after half of the film had passed and they were STILL at it, you could hear people sighing in frustration with one guy shouting "Shut up" in no particular direction, but hoping she'd hear. I took the liberty of doing the same, leaned forward and simply said "Excuse me, can you be quiet please?". She stopped after that.

For 15 minutes.

And then the rudeness continued. Not as bad as it was, but still very annoying. There's a part in the film where it's supposed to be a serious moment. It's silent, except for two characters talking. She chose that exact moment to decide it'd be a good time to laugh at what the guy next to her was saying. How fucking rude can you get?

The whole cinema could hear her. It's not like she was being subtle about it. The cinema laughed under their breath with confusement and annoyance at her. Even when she yawned, she made sure the whole cinema knew.

Pathetic.

If you want to talk over a movie, do it somewhere else.

Rant over.

The film ended at 10:45pm after which I said hi to Tom. He invited me out with him and the rest of the people he was with but I declined. Why? Why the fuck did I decline? Why do I deny myself every oppurtunity to actually socialise? What am I coming home to? An empty room with only a computer and a shitty Internet connection. I'm so fucking lame.

But, that's what I did. I came home.

For the rest of the night, I've been trying multiple times to connect to the Internet but it doesn't seem to stay connected very long. I have to wait until 1am or 2am in the morning before a steady connection is made. That's useless for when I do actually want to use it for research.

From 3am, I watched some YouTube videos. At 3:20am, my phone lit up and started vibrating. "Call", it said, rather than a name or number. I clicked accept.

"Hello?", I asked, confused about why anyone would call me at such a weird time.

The reply was quite disturbing. It sounded like someone was whispering but really loudly down the phone. Whatever they said, it was unintelligible. They spoke for five seconds and then put the phone down. Very creepy. It freaked me out slightly. I put it down to someone messing me about and just went back to watching videos.

Ten minutes later, my phone lit up again. "Call". I accepted, this time choosing not to say hello, but just listen.

"Hello", a familiar, trademark voice said, "Do you want to play a game?"

At this point I just smiled, realising someone had decided to try and freak me out by playing it down the phone. It was of course the infamous Tobin Bell's voice from the film Saw. He is of course the Jigsaw killer.

The call lasted 30 seconds. I didn't say anything, just listened, but they hung up once more. I actually wanted to them to call back and try and freak me out more after that. I even went to the trouble of finding a Saw clip on YouTube of Saw III, which has Tobin Bell saying "Live or die...make your choice". I was going to play it down the phone really loudly to them. I was disappointed!

So, two highlights really; I went to see Casino Royale and got Jigsaw asking if I want to play a game. Nice eh!
